Private Label
From Idea to Shelf: Private Label Cookware Timeline (Realistic)
Plan with the real timeline and you launch on schedule. Plan with the optimistic one and you miss your season.
Weeks 1-2: Brief & quoting
Finalise specs, get 3 quotes, shortlist 2 factories. Delay risk: incomplete briefs - decide everything now.
Weeks 3-6: Sampling
Samples built and shipped, your review, typically one revision round. Delay risk: slow internal approvals - set a 48-hour review SLA with yourself.
Weeks 5-8: Branding & packaging (parallel)
Logo engraving proofs, box design, barcode registration. Runs parallel to sampling - don’t sequence it after.
Weeks 7-14: Bulk production
Deposit paid, production scheduled, mid-production photo reports, pre-shipment inspection. Delay risk: peak seasons (pre-Diwali, pre-Christmas) - book slots early.
Weeks 15-20: Shipping & launch
Sea freight, customs clearance, warehouse receiving. Listings and marketing go live as goods sail, not after they land.
Total: 18-22 weeks
That is the honest calendar for a first private label cookware launch. Reorders run 8-12 weeks once tooling and packaging exist.
Frequently asked questions
Can I launch faster?
White-label (existing designs, your logo) can ship in 6-10 weeks. Full private label with custom specs needs the full timeline.
When should I start for Christmas sales?
Begin by June. Sea freight + production + buffer means Christmas inventory must ship by October.
