Tri-Ply Circles
Tri-Ply Circles for Pressure Cooker Bases: What Manufacturers Need
Pressure cookers increasingly use tri-ply bases for even heating. The requirements are stricter than standard cookware - here is why.
Why tri-ply for cookers
Even heat prevents hotspot scorching and improves pressure consistency. The tri-ply base is typically impact-bonded or friction-welded to the cooker body rather than deep-drawn.
Critical specs
- Higher peel strength minimums - thermal cycling stresses the bond
- Thicker gauges (2.5-3.5 mm typical for bases)
- Flatness - the base must sit perfectly on the cooker body
- Safety testing - bond integrity under pressure-cooker conditions
Compliance note
Pressure cookers are regulated products (BIS mandatory in India). Base material is part of the certified construction - don’t change circle suppliers without re-verifying compliance.
Frequently asked questions
Can tri-ply circles be used for pressure cookers?
