Export Packaging for Cookware: Pallets, Cartons & Damage Protection

A perfect pan in a weak carton arrives as scrap. Export packaging is engineering - here is the spec that survives 40 days at sea.

The carton spec

  • Double-wall corrugated (7-ply board) for retail boxes; triple-wall for master cartons
  • Burst strength matched to stack height in container
  • Correct sizing: snug fit - movement inside the carton causes 80% of dents
  • Print: handling marks, barcodes, carton numbers for traceability

Protection inside

  • Interleaving: paper/foam between nested vessels stops scratching
  • Corner guards on retail boxes
  • Polybags against moisture; silica gel for sea freight

Palletisation

Heat-treated wooden pallets (ISPM-15 stamped, with fumigation certificate), cartons stacked in interlocked pattern, stretch-wrapped and strapped. Max stack height marked on the pallet.

Prove it: the drop test

Before bulk, drop-test a packed carton per ISTA 3A (corner, edge and face drops). If it fails in the factory yard, it fails in Felixstowe. Specify the test in your PO.

Frequently asked questions
