Tri-Ply Circles
Copper-Core Tri-Ply Circles: Premium Material, Premium Price
Swap the aluminium core for copper and you get the premium tier of clad cookware material. Here is the full economics.
Performance difference
Copper conducts heat ~60% better than aluminium. Result: faster response, even more uniform heat. In blind cooking tests the difference is subtle - copper’s real advantage is responsiveness at the hob.
The cost reality
Copper costs roughly 3-4x aluminium per kg, and it’s denser - copper-core circles run 60-100% more expensive than aluminium-core. The premium only works for luxury positioning.
Who buys them
- Luxury D2C brands (visible copper rim = selling feature)
- Professional chef lines
- Gift/premium festive ranges
Worth it?
For 95% of cookware, aluminium-core tri-ply is the rational choice. Copper core is a positioning decision, not an engineering necessity.
