Tri-Ply Circles

Circle Tolerances: Diameter, Thickness & What to Specify

Tolerance is a price lever: tighter than necessary and you pay for precision you can’t use; looser than necessary and vessels vary.

Realistic tolerances

  • Diameter: ±0.5 mm standard; ±0.25 mm precision (costs more)
  • Thickness: ±0.05 mm typical for 2.0 mm circles
  • Flatness: critical for auto-feed presses - specify max bow
  • Edge: deburred, no sharp burrs over 0.1 mm

Tolerance vs price

Halving a tolerance roughly doubles inspection/sorting cost at the supplier. Specify what your process needs - then verify on incoming AQL.

PO language

"460 mm dia ±0.5, 2.0 mm ±0.05, deburred edges, flat within 1 mm" - complete, verifiable, quotable.

Frequently asked questions
