OEM Manufacturing

How Amazon Brands Use OEM Cookware Manufacturing to Launch

Some of the fastest-growing cookware brands on Amazon own no factory at all. They win with OEM manufacturing + sharp listing execution. Here is the playbook.

Pick a winnable product

Don’t launch "another non-stick pan". Win with differentiation that photographs well: triply construction (a real, demonstrable upgrade), unusual sizes, or bundles (kadhai + frypan + saucepan sets outsell singles). Check reviews of top sellers - every 3-star complaint is your product brief.

Differentiate physically, not just on the listing

OEM lets you change what competitors can’t copy with Photoshop: heavier gauge, full-body triply, engraved logo, premium box. Physical differentiation is the only durable moat on marketplaces.

Packaging for FBA

Your factory should ship retail-ready: individual box, barcode (FNSKU), polybag with suffocation warning, 6-sided protection for the ISTA drop test. Specify all of this in the OEM spec - repacking at a prep centre eats your margin.

The math that matters

Work backwards: target retail price minus Amazon fees (~30-40% all-in) minus freight minus buffer = your landed cost ceiling. Get the factory quote first, then decide if the product is viable. Most failed launches skipped this step.

Launch sequence

  1. OEM sample approved → bulk order
  2. While goods ship: photography, A+ content, listing copy
  3. Launch with Vine reviews + measured PPC
  4. Reorder before stock-out - 60-day lead times punish slow reorders

Frequently asked questions

What MOQ works for an Amazon launch?

1,000-2,000 pieces per SKU is a sensible test batch - enough for launch inventory without overcommitting.

Should packaging be retail-ready from the factory?

Yes. Factory-applied FNSKU labels and retail boxes save prep-centre fees and reduce damage.
